Investment in innovative technology is good for long term job creation, economic growth, and competitiveness in export markets.I am very concerned that the Conservative government will enter into Public Private Partnerships for infrastructure development. The Liberal Party should undertake a comprehensive review of the international experience with Public Private Partnerships. I expect this issue to come up and the Liberal Party needs to have facts at the ready to address the issue when it does. (My reading on this subject indicates that these partnerships often cost the taxpayer more in the long run, there often are complaints about quality of service, and they do not generate the private sector growth that would be created by the normal public tender and funding process.)
